| In 1981 there were no resources for a women that had been raped. In fact, the rape crisis center was run by volunteers and was not like the Rape Crisis Centers of today. There is a place for county agencies and they are paramount for the immediate needs of a rape victim. If you have been raped your county agency will assist you with any medical needs, one on one counseling, and come along side you during the legal proceedings. All matters are handled in a confidential setting. In 1998 as I searched for a church with a support group for women who were raped...there were none...or at least none that I could find. At that time I really needed to see how other women were living and dealing with life after rape. I ended up at a county agency. Please do not misunderstand me, but going to a support group at a county agency had limitations and just reinforced the truth that true healing comes from Jesus Christ. |

| Books Beyond our Control by Leila Rae Sommerfield is written by a woman who has dedicated most of her life to coming along side women who have been raped. She is a speaker, author and Life Coach. She resides in Oregon and even though we are separated by miles our hearts have been united because of Jesus Christ and our stories. Her book was instrumental in another layer of healing even though it was 25 years after the rape when I read her book.
