It was 1999; eighteen years after the rape that I had an
overwhelming desire to find women that were raped.
I had to see for myself what they looked like, spoke
like, the type of life they were leading and if they were
successful in overcoming the issues that plagued survivors of
rape.
I called numerous churches for a support group or bible
study for women that were raped but there weren’t any.
I ended up where I started at the Rape Crisis Center.
I entered a Rape Crisis Group and began to see that with
without Jesus Christ there would be no true healing.
My best friend gave me a book for Christmas about a
woman’s journey back from rape. I couldn’t believe what I was reading. The author, a survivor of rape, gave me a visual of
what my life had become, how I minimized the rape and buried the
pain.
My prayer; please do not wait 18 years or 18 minutes to
get help. There
